Closed petition Social media sites must see proof of Identity to open an account

Closed on

Children are being exploited online, by online sexual predators.
Sexual predators use social media sites to find, groom and sexually exploit. They are untraceable because they set up fake social media accounts and use public locations to access the internet so they are impossible to track.

There is no current law in place that requires social media sites to ask for proof of identity when users are setting up a new account.

If users were required by law to provide photographic ID when signing up they would not be able to use these sites freely to carry out their attacks on vulnerable children.
