Closed Introduce traffic light system on products to rate/reward environmental impact

Being a conscientious consumer is difficult when there are so many factors to consider. The onus should be on the manufacturers /suppliers to let us know how ethical / environmentally sound their products are and they should be rewarded/reprimanded according to the environmental score applied.

The scores would be calculate using criteria such as - Land & Water Use, Air/Sea Miles, CO2, Sustainability, Ethical production, Packaging & for non consumables – end of life reuse. Environmentally positive products should be tax free, those with a negative environmental impact taxed.

This legislation would allow the consumer to make informed choices and add incentive to the manufacturers/suppliers to make their products less damaging.
