Closed petition Government must issue binding guidance on building material(s)

Closed on

The government should ban the use of all combustible material(s) to apply to all residential buildings rather than those solely over 18 metres high.

Regulations should be ethical and encompass the entirety of the property including balconies and decorative features. A retroactive ban would protect life.

In 2018 the government confirmed a ban on combustible cladding but only to high-rise buildings above 18 metres.

Flames can spread up through wooden balconies within minutes like it did at Samuel Garside House, Barking Riverside, which acted similarly to the cladding in the Grenfell disaster.

The government should ban the use of combustible material(s) to apply to all residential buildings, irrespective of height. Urgent remedial action is required
