Petition Ban non-recyclable wrapping paper and restrict the use of plastic adhesive tape

Millions of metres of used wrapping paper end up in landfill after Christmas and throughout the year. Even wrapping paper that is recyclable cannot be recycled if plastic adhesive tape is attached. Alternatives are available - using recyclable wrapping paper with ribbons, string, paper tape etc.

In these times of climate emergency and catastrophic biodiversity loss, adding any more plastic to the environment is not acceptable. Individual action and the level of public awareness do not match the urgency of the situation and this therefore needs to be regulated by the government.
