Closed Requiring anyone to have a special licence for large knives in the UK

Make the UK safer by having a licence that background checks people before purchasing large knives such as machetes would cut down knive crime in the UK by ensuring people who have no training, experience, or a professional use or collecting purposes getting hold of deadly knives.

Additionally ensure local councils or police criminal background checks the applicants as well as mental health checks and waiting periods.
Make it a criminal offence to sell, distribute, gift and supply a knife over the set limit of inches to anyone who does not have a licence
Exceptions,
There would need to be exceptions for household knives such as meat knives and other cooking knives in line with the 18+ laws.
