Petition Pause Brexit to give time for Parliament properly debate issues in Hong Kong.

HK is home to many British Nationals. Over 370,000 BN(O) passports were issued in 2016. HM Government needs to urgently address how the UK can protect her nationals in light of ever increasing indications from China that it has no intentions of honouring the 1984 Sino-British Joint Declaration.

More details

As the UK and Europe concentrates on a deadline of October for Brexit, there seems to be little room for discussing the ever worsening plight of Hongkongers, whom HM Government handed back to China in 1997. HM Government should approach European partners to propose to pause the Brexit process, allowing time to properly address how to deal with China and the situation in Hong Kong. The Spokesperson for the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights said that there was “credible evidence” HK Police used measures “prohibited by international norms and standards”. Please do the right thing.
