Rejected petition Increase the number of recycling bins in town centres.

Recently, there has been an increased number of recyclable products e.g. coffee cups made available; however there are currently sparse numbers of recycling bins in town centres across the UK and so it is difficult to recycle these items. Consequently, the purpose of 'recyclable' products is lost.

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.

Waste management and recycling are the responsibility of local authorities. You could raise the issue with local councillors who represent you. You can find out who your local councillors are, and how to contact them, here:

https://www.gov.uk/find-your-local-councillors

You could start a new petition calling for an action that is the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament, for example calling for increased central government funding for local authorities' recycling services.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
