HPV can lead to cancers of the cervix, vulva, vagina, and anus in women and cancers of the anus and penis in men. There are also links that HPV can cause head, neck, skin, throat and repiratory cancer. According to a recent documentary the vaccination has been proven to stop some cancer caused by HPV. Having HPV can increase your chances of getting certain cancers by up-to 45%. Around 70% of all cervical cancer is caused by HPV. There are two vaccinations available with both showing 100% success rate against contracting HPV. More than 120 strains of HPV have been identified. Current the vaccination is only available on the NHS to girls aged 12 - 13, the cost for private treatment is £300 upwards.
