Petition The Driving Standards Agency (DSA) Register of Driving Instructors, should be closed to any new entrants.

More details

The Driver Instruction Industry is over supplied with Approved Driving Instructors (ADI's).

Many experienced, highly qualified ADI's are going out of business due to this..

Some companies exist mainly to train people to become "Driving Instructors" They promise huge returns (£30k pa) to tempt people to part with their money (usually about £3-4k) to train. If a Provisional Driving Instructor, (PDI) actually qualifies, the reality is that there is not enough work to sustain them.

As a consequence, the market place is swamped with new instructors with few or low qualifications, whilst the experienced and most highly qualified instructors go out of business!.

Action Sought.

One solution. Government to tell the DSA, (Dept. For Trans). Close the register to new instructors until the number of instructors on the register returns to a sustainable level.

Training companies could also be put to a more useful and profitable use providing CPD to existing instructors.
