Closed petition Prevent late terminations of pregnancies where a baby would have Down's Syndrome

Closed on

I would like the law to be changed so babies with Down's Syndrome are not allowed to be terminated after 24 weeks, as is already the case with most pregnancies. Babies with Down's Syndrome should not have to justify their own existence.

If it is determined that a baby is going to be born with Down's Syndrome they are treated as severely disabled for the purpose of terminating a pregnancy. Yet the day a baby is born, even minutes later, it has to qualify for a disability, with the mobility disability not even being recognised until the baby is 3 years old. This has to be changed.

I have found in my experience not enough people know these details as it seems like the Government doesn't want people to know that this law exists.
