Closed petition Divide Child Benefit equally between separated parents who share equal care.

Closed on

If children of separated parents spend equal time with each parent, the Child Benefit should be split equally between both parents.

Child Benefit is currently only paid to one parent by HMRC.

Currently, if parents of a child are separated, and the child spends equal time with both parents, only parent can receive Child Benefit, and receives the full amount. This can mean one parent, who earns significantly more than the other, can receive the full Child Benefit while the other parent receives nothing.

This is incredibly outdated in this age modern parenting and inclusivity for all.
