Closed petition Allow asylum seekers to work if their applications remain undecided for 6 months

Parliament should legislate and direct Home Office to give asylum seekers permission to work if their asylum applications remain undecided by Home Office beyond 6 months.
Government also need to provide sufficient financial support to asylum seekers until they are granted permission to work.

More details

Asylum seekers are not criminals. They are human beings who have basic needs and need funds for basic survival.
This includes many families with young children as well who are left mercilessly without any financial support and without permission to work.
This situation may force them to be either criminals or beggars.
Since asylum seekers are mostly vulnerable and afraid, their voices / sufferings remain unheard.
Please voice it for them by signing this petition.

MPs to debate asylum seekers and permission to work

MPs will debate asylum seekers and permission to work this Wednesday 18 November in Westminster Hall. The subject of the debate has been determined by the Backbench Business Committee.

This will be a general debate. General debates allow MPs to debate important issues, however they do not end in a vote nor can they change the law.

The debate will start at 4.00pm and last for 30 minutes.
