Closed petition Require companies to match employment conditions for reemployed workers.

Parliament must protect employees who are forced to “apply for their own job”.
In this system, employers dismiss all or most staff then re-employ them under different and far less favourable conditions.

More details

In the current emergency, companies such as British Airways are even using just the threat of such outrageous action to force employees to accept life changing conditions.

Government and Parliament should take firm action to prevent any employer from using this method to bully their staff, by guaranteeing existing rights for anyone who is reemployed by a company after being made redundant We should all be following the obvious way forward by pulling together and not using old methods to divide and rule.

MPs to debate fire and rehire tactics

MPs will debate fire and rehire tactics on Tuesday 27 April in Westminster Hall. The debate is being led by Kate Osborne MP.

This will be a general debate. General debates allow MPs to debate important issues, and are responded to by a Government Minister, however they do not end in a vote nor can they change the law.

The debate will start at 2.30pm and last for up to an hour and a half.
