Closed petition Prevent Housing Associations spending money on purposes other than housing
Closed on
Most Housing Association income is rent from social housing, where tenants are often some of the poorest in society, and these revenues should be dedicated to preserving and building social housing.
Housing Associations are in receipt of Government housing grants as well as rents, and are discharging the responsibility of Local Authorities to provide a basic human right - shelter. I believe they should not be doing anything other than building and managing homes, and should be prevented from using money for other purposes, such as grants funding the arts, sports, education projects or food banks.
