Closed petition Allow licensed Security with suitable training to carry a Baton and PAVA spray

I would like the Government to change the Law to allow SIA front line security staff i.e Security officers, Door Supervisors, and Close Protection officers to legally carry and use both items of personal protective equipment as a last resort with suitable training. I feel this will improve safety.

Official Statistics from the Security Industry Authority are as follows:

45 percent of security staff have been assaulted with a weapon at work

70 percent of door staff have been physically assaulted at work

34 percent of security staff have been hospitalized by an assault at work

70 percent of security staff have been assaulted at work

44 percent of door staff have needed hospital treatment after being assaulted at work

Allowing staff to carry this PPE could decrease these serious assaults.
