Rejected petition Restrict build noise where construction is within 50 meters of inhabited houses

Protect the mental health and well being of residents who have no respite from building noise by restricting noise before 0700hrs and after 1700hrs weekdays, before 0800hrs and 1300hrs Saturdays; and all day Sunday.

More details

As the Government wishes to support the Mental Health of its people, it is counterproductive when construction noise is continuous. It is understood that the Government wishes to relax the restriction on the Construction industry, however, this does not support those who have to reside next to these building sites and as such increases stress, anxiety and depression.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.

Under the Control of Pollution Act 1974, specifying how construction work is carried out, the hours when work can take place and setting a noise limit is a matter for local authorities and not the Government or House of Commons.

If you are concerned about noise from construction, or would like you local authority to change the hours when construction is permitted in your area, should contact your local authority about this.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
