Closed Impose sanctions on Brazil due to unabated destruction of the Amazon

The Government should impose economic sanctions on Brazil to pressure its government to take action to halt deforestation. The 'lungs of the world' are being destroyed at an alarming rate, and the Bolsonaro administration has failed to limit legal deforestation or tackle illegal deforestation.

We believe Bolsonaro has repeatedly ignored the concerns of the international community and had little regard for the indigenous population or the unique and spectacular wildlife that exists in the Amazon. In the midst of a climate emergency, the UK cannot sit back and watch this continued destruction without taking action.
