Closed petition Review how children with dyslexia are assessed by the exam system
Closed on
I am a parent of two children coming up to GCSEs in the next few years, one who has a diagnosis of Dyslexia and I feel will be discriminated against under the current system.
I am also an Educational Psychologist who has worked with a number of pupils, parents and school SENCos over the past few years who have also been severely disadvantaged and dis heartened by this legislation. Rather than raising standards it is a criminal disadvantage for at least 10 percent of UK students.
The Government should review how children with dyslexia are supported and assessed to ensure that they are not unfairly disadvantaged or discriminated against. To ensure this, it must also fund specialist assessors/teachers within schools.
