Closed petition Legislate for the provision of reparations to communities affected by slavery
The Government must take ownership of our white ancestors' actions, acknowledge the impact it had on generations of people. The Government must apologise for the UK's role in slavery and creating systemic racism, and legislate for financial reparations for communities that were and are affected.
More details
We are taught as children that when you do something wrong you must be honest and own up to it, apologise, make it right as best you can, and then never let it happen again. As a country, if we truly want to find peace again across communities, but also within ourselves, we must now go through this process described above for the scores of communities, countries and people that our ancestors have torn apart. We must be brave enough to face the truth of what our ancestors did and make it right.
