Closed petition Make it a specific offence to desecrate national flags, symbols and monuments

This petition seeks the introduction of new legislation to make it an offence in the UK to desecrate the national flag, any associated national flags, national monuments and symbols.

More details

It is greatly offensive and upsetting to many people to have integral parts of our national identity desecrated. Despite this happening within plain sight of the public and the police, it often goes completely unanswered. Our culture and history should be protected in the UK by law, and that is the aim of this petition.

MPs to debate desecration of war memorials

MPs will debate desecration of war memorials this Wednesday 13 January in Westminster Hall.

This will be a general debate. General debates allow MPs to debate important issues, however they do not end in a vote nor can they change the law.

The debate will start at 4.00pm and last for 30 minutes.
