Petition Ban plastic bags in supermarkets, and other retail shops.
I would like the government to ban plastic bags in all supermarkets, takeaway restaurants, and other shops. I have found that having reusable plastic bags isn’t enough because people still throw them out. And small businesses still use them. The government must enforce this because businesses won’t.
More details
Climate change is real, there is lots of evidence on that. If we want to help stop climate change we MUST stop it quickly. Climate change is also something I am very passionate about, because this is about saving our planet, our lives. Plastic bags make up a huge amount of waste which is contributing to the death of our planet, our home. THE only one we have. Waiting for shops to make this change is not enough. The government must take action.

Tell MPs what you think about the Climate Assembly’s recommendations for net-zero emissions
MPs from six select committees of the House of Commons joined together to set up a citizens’ assembly on climate change to look at how the UK should reach its commitment to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
The Climate Assembly UK brought together 108 people from across the UK. Together they were representative of the wider UK population in terms of age, gender, ethnicity, educational level, where in the UK they live, whether they live in an urban or rural area, and how concerned they are about climate change.
They worked together to create recommendations to Government.
