Closed Kara’s law - Increase sentences for drink driving offences

I want the Government to increase sentences for drink driving offences, so that victims of drink drivers can see justice done. My niece Kara has had her life changed forever and the drink driver who did this only received a sentence of 3 years and will be out in 18 months. This is not fair.

The maximum sentence for causing serious injury by dangerous driving is five years, but a defendant can often reduce their sentence by pleading guilty, and will normally only serve half their sentence. My niece has lost both of her legs as a result of a drink driver, so how can anybody say this is a fair sentence?

Sentences for drink driving offences should be increased. This should be called Kara's law.
