Closed petition Seek to agree a 2-month global lockdown to reduce Covid transmission

We call on the Government to work internationally to secure a simultaneous global lockdown to reduce covid transmission. We would ask the Government to continue the furlough period for this two months and extend it to all employed people. Lockdowns could vary in nature between nations.

The virus is a like a batten in a relay race, once not moving transmission of the virus is reduced. A coordinated Global lockdown should help contain the virus, giving certainty back to people and business.

Summer is also often a less stressful time for many people and services. The 2-month period is informed by the maximum recorded incubation time, 27 days in Hubei + the 14-day post-infection period, plus time to check the spread of the virus has been reduced.
