Rejected petition Allow unnatural dyed hair in British secondary education

Allow students that attend British secondary schools to dye their hair any colour they wish without punishment.

More details

Young people should have the right to express themselves through their hair whilst they are young. The colour of a students hair does not affect their learning and should not be an punishable issue in schools.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.

Schools and academies are responsible for setting their own for uniform and general appearance, so this is not something the Government or House of Commons is responsible for.

If you are concerned about your school's policy on uniform and general appearance you should make a complaint following their complaint's procedure, that should be on the school's website or can be obtained from the school's governing board or head teacher.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
