Closed petition Review proposed obesity measures to help those with eating disorders
Closed on
The Government has announced plans for calories to be added to menus in restaurants and to end deals such as “buy one get one free” on meals high in sugar, salt and fat. I want the Government to review these proposals to help people with eating disorder and those in poverty.
Calories on menus can easily trigger those with eating disorders. And the end to deals on less healthy food could harm families in poverty where they’re access to healthy food is low. Instead of these new measures the Government should consider alternatives, including cooking lessons in schools and colleges, funding mental health services tackling eating disorders, and banning adverts that could trigger those with eating disorders.
