We’re waiting for a new Petitions Committee

Petitions had to stop because of the recent general election. Once a new Petitions Committee is set up by the House of Commons, petitions will start again.

Closed petition If an MP resigns, or loses the Whip, then this should trigger a by-election

We want Parliament to pass a law that says that if an MP resigns from their party, or loses the Whip, then a by-election in the constituency that they represent should immediately be called.

More details

MPs are there to represent the people that voted for them. We have seen recently, time and time again, that MPs vote against what the people in their constituency voted them in for. This is not democracy.

If MPs feel that they can no longer represent the views of the people that voted them in to power on a published manifesto, then they should resign, and trigger a by-election, to see if people still want them as their MP.
