Petition mobile phone etc. chargers and cables

Manufacturers of mobile phones / tablet Pc's / mp3 players and other small portable electronics should be made to standardise the connectors on their chargers and connecting cables.

I suspect most people have a collection of redundant chargers in their homes. If the plugs of chargers and USB cables etc were to be standardised or become an optional extra when making purchasing goods this could:

(a) benefit industry by reducing manufacturing costs, transport and packaging costs and improve competition.
(b) benefit the environment by reducing the amount of electronic goods/plastic being sent to landfill
(c) benefit consumers by reducing costs or helping to stabilise price increases
