Petition Allow Motorcyclists to use bus lanes.

More details

To allow Motorcyclists and Scooters to use bus lanes throughout the United Kingdom.

At the moment this is dictated on a council by council basis, meaning that it is legal to ride in the bus lane of a road in one local authority area, but then at the boundry of the LA, it then becomes a breach of the Transport Act (2000) and motorcyclists can receive a fine.

It is stupid that this should be different in each area and should be allowed in all areas. Motorcycles and scooters do not use as much space on the road, they do not damage the road and they are far less poluting than cars (and the half empty buses running in some bus lanes).

Please remove the ability for local authorities to dictate which bus lanes can be uses and set it in the highway code that ALL bus lanes can be used by motorcycles and scooters.
