Closed petition Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

Closed on

It is time that PTSD and other mental health issues where debated and recognized as an illness affecting many of our armed forces in the UK. This will help the ex serving Personnel get their symptoms recognized and the correct treatment prescribed for them. I.e. a referral Combat Stress, and have a care plan put in place.

PTSD can affect many people in different ways. It is essential that we as a country and start working with a better outcome for our serving and ex-serving personnel. I am sure that early intervention would be a lot better and may even reduce the long-term affects of the individual incidents.

It currently takes approximately 13 years for someone to seek help. and this is often only after they have tried to take their own life.

PTSD is the unseen illness that no one can see, and this is often the case for the sufferer. We all hear of the physical injuries that can be seen on a daily basis and often these can cause PTSD in the individuals affected.
