Closed petition Bicycle parking in residential streets
Closed on
A car parking space can provide parking for 10 bicycles.
Proposal: To install cycle racks in every residential street with space for more than 40 cars.
Motorists have a great deal of provision for parking & yet there will never be enough car parking.
Many inner city workers are prevented from commuting by bike by the lack of space to store a bicyle.
In streets with more than 40 parking spaces a single car parking space should be converted into a secure bike parking space to encourage local residents to cycle rather than drive on a regular basis.
This site has a great product that shows how this could be achieved.

Benefits:
Less traffic
Less pollution
Safer roads
More excersise
More visibility of the benefits of cycling
The rack should be centrally located in the street to provide the best security (racks at the ends of streets are likely to be more hidden) & conveinience for users.
