Petition War Memorial for troops who have committed suicide
More details
My cause is to set up a war momorial for troops who have committed suicide as a result of prolonged combat-related stress.
In the Falklands war, 264 servicemen commited suicide, that's more than the total that died in the conflict.
A total of 67 servicemen have comited suicide after returing from Iraq or Afghanistan as well as 4 cases while on service in Iraq. Some cases include:
. Marine Dylan Kemp, 20
. Private Jason Chelsea, 19
. Rifleman Allan Arnold, 20
. Lance Corporal David Wilson, 27
. Captain Ken Masters, 40
. Private Gary Boswell, 20
. Corporal Mark Cridge, 25
. Private Ryan Wrathall, 21
My main aim would be to raise awareness through publications and oraginise a petetion for Downing Street. Then with public support arrange fundraising for the plan. I have no specific location for the memorial if the plan was to commence.
