We the undersigned request that Sir Irvine Patnick be stripped of his knighthood and OBE.
In the light of the findings of the Hillsborough Independent Panel we request that Sir Irvine Patnick, former MP for Sheffield Hallam, be stripped of his knighthood and OBE for his role in the Hillsborough disaster cover-up.

The Hillsborough Independent Panel has confirmed that the former MP was one of the sources of information which contributed to a vile and despicable smear campaign, as part of a deliberate attempt to deflect blame from the police for their appalling handling of the Hillsborough disaster onto the fans. These actions resulted in totally innocent people, including the 96 deceased and their families, the survivors and the people of Liverpool worldwide, being unjustly vilified, stigmatised and tarnished for 23 years.

The former MP’s actions have brought the honours system into disrepute and they should be removed as a matter of urgency.
