Rejected petition All police officers should carry guns

After the deaths of 2 female unarmed police officers on 18th September 2012, all police officers on the beat should have firearms to protect themselves and the public. Nearly every country in the world has an armed police force which provides a deterrent to the criminal element in society.
It is about time that the British police force followed suit and are armed by the Government to protect our streets.
