Rejected petition Match of the day to be available on iPlayer

Football fans in the UK are impeded by the fact that it's flagship highlights show, Match of the Day, is not shown on BBC iPlayer.

If out on a Saturday night or in the company of those who should not have to watch against their will, people often miss the programme.

Although there is a catch-up programme on Sunday mornings, this time is for a lie-in before the start of the next week.

The BBC says it can not show the highlights throughout the week because it does not hold the rights to the footage,yet the same is not the case for its sister programme, Match of the Day 2 which is shown on iPlayer for 5 days after the broadcast.
