Closed petition harsher sentences for child pornography

I propose that in the light of the increase in child pornography and the fact that a number of people have been given light sentences for this crime, the minimum sentence for producing, distributing and collecting child pornography, levels 2-5 should be 10 years' imprisonment.

In my view, this would be the only way to protect children from this most heinous of crimes.

However, people caught with only one indecent image of children on their computer drive could be given the benefit of the doubt, in case they may have come across it accidentally.

This would also not include non-sexual portrayals of nudity, such as in genuine naturist sites.
