A pavillion was constructed by public subscription to honour 88 fallen former pupils of the Birkenhead Institute School who gave their lives for their country in the Great War. Wirral Borough Council are seeking to remove protective covenants in order to allow 100 houses to be built on the pavillion/playing field site.The site and building are a listed war memorial and as such should be honoured and retained for sport as at their inception.
