Gateshead Council plan to introduce a permit scheme for retail premises covering A-boards, outside displays, awnings, canopies, signage, and even external roller shutter boxes, with a view, at an unspecified point in the future, to charge an unspecified amount for said permits.

A single permit covers only one area, such that separate permits will be required for each of the items mentioned above.

We oppose this stealth tax.
