Closed petition scrap public transport penalty fares and prosecutions
Closed on
the current laws governing penalty fares and prosecution for public transport need to be scrapped and anyone convicted for fare evasion needs to have their conviction quashed. the system is stupid as anyone can give anyone elses name, dob and address and the ticket inspector is non the wiser and an innocent person ends up being prosecuted for fare evasion. if you move home and then court summons is received you could be convicted without knowing and have arrest warrant out against you. all court convictions and arrest warrants for fare evasion need to be scrapped and by law public transport companies and courts should be forced to remove all details of the persons they have for penalty fares and prosecutions. alot of innocent people are having their name, dob and address given out and the public transport companies and courts should have no right holding innocent peoples details.
