Closed petition Broadband without Line Rental
Closed on
There is no longer any technical requirement for BT or any other telecoms provider to insist on providing a land-line service to customers who wish to purchase broadband.
We, the undersigned, propose:
- Telecoms providers be required to provide a "broadband only" service in the UK.
- That the cost of the above cannot be any more than 15% of the equivalent product accompanying a land-line service.
- That in the circumstance where no telecom socket is present at a property (such as new homes), the customer can pay an installation charge to have a socket installed for broadband only.
Should BT and other provider find sufficient justification for requiring a phone line, then we propose:
- A new tariff is created which delivers a telephone service which is restricted so that calls cannot be made or received.
- The cost of the new tariff shall be £0.00 when supplied with broadband.
