Petition Privy Council's Rejection of the Name Change From Leeds Metropolitan University to Leeds Beckett University

More details

The Board of Governors for Leeds Metropolitan University has agreed to seek formal permission from the Privy Council to change the university’s name to Leeds Beckett University.

The university feels that "We have outgrown our “Metropolitan” name and all that it stands for in the sector and the national and international markets in which we operate." However, the very definition of the word Metropolitan - Of, relating to, or denoting a metropolis; a very large and densely populated city or urban area - combined with the fact the university's two campuses are based within the heart of The City of Leeds Metropolitan District, would suggest that infact the university's current name is much more suitable.
