Petition 80 mph speed limit

At the last election the Conservative Party suggested they were planning to increase the speed limit to 80 mph on motorways. We voted them in. Why hasn't this happened yet?

This petition calls on the Government to introduce an 80 mph speed limit on all motorways and preferably also dual carriageways.

If this is not done then perhaps we should remember this lie when looking at any future Conservative manifestos.
