Closed petition End the misuse of the word "literally"

Closed on

This petition is in relation to the recent publicity surrounding the decision by the Oxford English Dictionary to add the common misuse of the word "literally" as a genuine definition of the word.

The request is for the Department for Education to ensure that schools are correctly teaching the meaning of the word. Furthermore, the government should lobby the OED to remove the incorrect definition and avoid it being given credibility.
