Rejected petition Get endometriosis recognised as a disability.

Endometriosis affects 1 in 10 women and is an incredibly debilitating illness that can cause many further conditions. I personally suffer from endometriosis but, as it is not recognised as a disability, struggle with work/school. Have endometriosis regonised as a disability under the Equality Act.

More details

Endometriosis affects a large amount of women, putting them in near constant pain and causing extreme fatigue, amongst other symptoms.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

It is already the case that under the Equality Act, anyone with a physical or a mental condition which has a substantial and long-term impact on your ability to do normal day to day activities is protected under the disability protected characteristic. So if endometriosis prevents someone from carrying out day-to-day tasks (even if this is not every day but a repeat cycle), then they may be entitled to the protection of the Equality Act. So it's not clear what else you would like to happen.
