Closed Ban the automatic renewal of contracts for insurance products

Many insurance companies use automatic renewal of contracts to increase prices and make it difficult to cancel policies. This can cost consumers hundreds of pounds.

Disadvantaged people in particular can be at a greater risk of paying higher premiums due to this practice. I have had to contact a company via phone, rather than being able to cancel a contract online, left me even more out of pocket.
