We’re waiting for a new Petitions Committee

Petitions had to stop because of the recent general election. Once a new Petitions Committee is set up by the House of Commons, petitions will start again.

Closed petition Introduce mandatory trigger warnings on fiction books

We would like the government to introduce mandatory trigger warnings on fiction books. This will include warnings for sexual assault, rape, and violence.

More details

Trigger warnings can be a simple sticker on the cover or in the introduction of a novel, stating that there is sensitive material to come.

As someone who is recovering from PTSD, I can find it deeply distressing to immerse myself in a novel and find myself reading about rape scene with no warning.
