Closed petition Inform pregnant women of the risk of Placenta Accreta after a caesarean section

Closed on

The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists published guidelines in 2009 that consent forms given to women undergoing caesarean sections include information on the risk of Placenta Accreta in future pregnancies.

This has not been implemented and now 1 in 272 pregnancies result in Placenta Accreta, leading to hysterectomy, reconstructive surgery, hemorrhage, premature births, PTSD and even death of mother and/or baby.

It is imperative that consent forms include information about the risk of Placenta Accreta in order that women are able to make informed decisions about future pregnancies. Too many women have lost their own lives and most have been left with life changing chronic conditions including PTSD
