The Government should introduce a levy on textile garments to fund textile recycling centres and also raise money for research into development of new environmentally sustainable fabrics and yarns.

The UK needs to take responsibly for its textile waste. The UK generates huge amounts of second-hand clothing, much of which ends up being exported to countries where it can have adverse consequences.

A levy on textile garments could fund improve recycling in the UK, and also raise money to research and develop new environmentally sustainable fabrics and yarns.
