Closed petition Stop local councils from privatising waste collection

The Government should stop local councils from privatising waste collection. This action by councils delegates their responsibility to create a clean and healthy environment for residents to private service providers who can profit at the expense of tax payers.

Tax payers’ money shouldn’t be used to enrich private waste management companies, who are reported to make billions of pounds in revenue every year. According to the Office for National Statistics, waste management companies’ spending comes to just under £9.4 billion year.
