Rejected petition Extend the sentence given to Paul Ward for abusing and almost killing a 10 month old baby.

More details

Paul Ward was given 14 years in a youth offenders institution after sexually abusing a 10 month old baby using kitchen utensils. The 10 month old suffered internal bleeding and excruciating pain throughout the ordeal and had to be resuscitated twice in hospital. The sentence handed to Paul Ward is not one fitting his crime. We wish it to be reviewed and extended so his time served will reflect that of his crime and will not be released onto public streets within the next 14 years.

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.

Sentences that appear to be unduly lenient cannot be referred through the E-Petitions website. If you believe a sentence given in a Crown Court appears to be very low, or unduly lenient, anyone can contact the Attorney General's office asking for the sentence to be reviewed as long as it is within 28 days of sentencing.

Only certain serious offences that were heard in a Crown Court can be considered. Full details of the scheme can be found on our website, the address is www.gov.uk/ago

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
