Closed petition Ensure mental health care is available for all children having cancer treatment.

I would like the government or Parliament to make sure psychological care is available for all children going through cancer treatment.

The Government should ensure that the NHS has the resources necessary to ensure help is available from the start of treatment for everyone.

More details

Treatment can be long and gruelling.

As a mother with a child suffering from childhood cancer I am making this petition to get more support during treatment for childhood cancer.

Children and families need help and we're just not getting any.

Childhood cancer is one of the hardest things anyone will ever have to go through and the effects from this are extremely damaging. We need help.

We need people to listen, children are just expected to get on with it while on treatment for years. This effects these poor kids and affects the whole family.

The side effects they are left with are bad enough, bad mental health growing up should not be another one.

MPs debate Children's Mental Health Week 2024

On Tuesday 30 January, MPs took part in a Westminster Hall debate on Children's Mental Health week 2024. During the debate MPs discussed how mental health support for young people could be improved.

The debate was led by Dr Rosena Allin-Khan MP. The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Maria Caulfield MP, responded to the debate on behalf of the Government.

What is a Westminster Hall debate?

Westminster Hall is the second chamber of the House of Commons. Westminster Hall debates give MPs an opportunity to raise local and national issues and receive a response from a government minister. Westminster Hall debates are general debates that do not end in a vote.
